How to Change the Gas Bulb to a Stihl Weed Trimmer FS 75

A Stihl FS 75 is a curved shaft weed trimmer for tidying up the yard in smaller areas where a lawn mower cannot reach. The gasoline bulb eventually requires replacing when it develops cracks or a hole in it from the rubber material deteriorating. Indications of needing a bulb replacement are when fuel leaks from the arc and does not pump in the carburetor to begin the engine.

Release the throttle trigger in your Stihl FS 75 and slide the “Stop/Start” hands on the top of the grip over the throttle trigger interlock ahead of the “Stop-O” place. Set the weed trimmer on a level surface. Remove the spark plug boot to the cover of the engine and allow the engine to cool completely.

Put a pair of hemostats on each fuel line on the base of the primer bulb on the left back of the engine and then clamp them tightly to cut off the fuel flow into the carburetor. Grasp the two fuel lines and then pull them away from the gas bulb.

Insert a small Phillips screwdriver to each one of the 2 screws on the faces of the gas arc and then turn them counterclockwise. Remove the screws and set them apart. Pull the gasoline arc and metal retaining plate off the engine.

Press the gas arc’s around end with a single finger when holding the metal plate. Push the bulb through the metallic plate. Insert a new gas bulb into the hole in the plate.

Replace the plate to the engine aligning the screw holes. Insert the two screws and then flip them clockwise to tighten them with a small Phillips screwdriver. Press the two fuel lines onto the gasoline bulb and remove the hemostats from the fuel lines. Replace the spark plug boot securely onto the spark plug in the surface of the engine.
