The way to Put Ridge Tiles

Ridge tiles are a specific type of tile that are designed to cover the ridge or hip of a concrete tile, clay tile or slate roof. The roof tiles are held in position to the existing roof with mortar made of Portland cement and two kinds of mud, that most closely approximates the makeup of concrete roof tiles. It is possible to lay ridge tiles to guard the ridges and hips on your roof with some common masonry tools.

Fill an empty coffee can or large plastic cup to the brim with Portland cement. Pour the cement into the base of a wheelbarrow, followed by 1 1/2 cups of soft mud and also the same amount of screeding mud. Mix the 3 dry ingredients thoroughly with a scoop, then mix in enough water to ensure a ball of this mortar will only hold together without spreading.

Fill a 5-gallon bucket halfway with mortar with a masonry trowel and take the bucket along with the end of the garden hose to the roof ridge in which the installation is going to be accomplished. Spray a light coating of water along the tiles on all sides of the ridge, but not onto the ridge or supporting the tiles.

Position a roof tile at the bottom end of a sloping hip or on end end of this flat ridge to locate in which the ridge tiles will intersect with the roof tiles. Remove the tile and place a thick line of mortar along each edge. Wet the base of the ridge tile and position it above the hip or ridge, seating the tile into the mortar.

Put a bead of mortar above the end of their installed tile, in addition to along all sides of the ridge in accord with the edges of the initial tile. Wet a second tile and place it in place above the end of their first tile. Put in a third and fourth tile as you did the second tile.

Tap the four ridge tiles down into the mortar with the butt of the hand or the close of the trowel handle. Hold a string line on one end of this ridge and have a helper hold the string line to the opposite end to make sure that the line of tiles is being put evenly and degree around the eye.
