The way to Troubleshoot a GE Monogram Icemaker

GE’s Monogram label focuses on luxury features, industrial-grade design and eco friendly energy usage. Among the lineup, a little above a half-dozen Monogram side-by-side refrigerators feature GE’s water dispenser and icemaker with a built-in proximity sensor. High-end features aside, no appliance is flawless. In case your Monogram’s icemaker runs into trouble, there are troubleshooting procedures that are relevant to all of the label’s 36-, 42- and also 48-inch versions, both built-in and freestanding.

Filters and Flow

If your icemaker appears to be slow or if it creates small or hollow blocks, a messy filter might be inhibiting the flow of water into the gadget. Locate the cylinder-shaped Water filter cartridge in the rear, upper-right corner of the refrigerator compartment. Slowly unscrew the filter cartridge in the cartridge holder and screw in a new filter cartridge — a SmartWater or Water by Culligan filter, for Monogram versions — simply by turning it clockwise until it clicks into the cartridge holder. After installing the filter, run about 1 1/2 gallons of water in the dispenser to avoid future water leak complications. For optimal water and ice production, GE recommends replacing the filter cartridge every six weeks.

Water Worries and Temperature Troubles

If the icemaker does not produce ice at all, make sure the valve in the water supply line connected to a refrigerator is fully open. A Monogram icemaker works best when the water pressure ranges from 40 to 120 psi. If ice production is too slow for your taste, place the freezer compartment into a decrease temperature to support faster ice making. A leaky dispenser may indicate cubes jammed from the chute. The producer recommends freeing the blocks by poking the chute with a wooden spoon.

More Troubleshooting Measures

Do not overlook the simple things; be sure that the power switch in your refrigerator’s icemaker is put to the “On” position before moving on with troubleshooting. If the icemaker stops creating ice prior to the storage container is full, check the container for whatever obstructing the feeler arm, which is the level, blade-shaped appendage on the base of the icemaker. Clear any obstructions, such as frozen-on ice cubes, to ensure the icemaker accurately detects if the bin is full. Degree the ice at the bin and split any irregular clumps.

Getting in Touch With GE

Monogram refrigerators sometimes need professional care; if fundamental troubleshooting does not do the trick, schedule a service appointment via GE’s official Monogram site or contact the GE Answer Center. Besides scheduling service, you can contact GE to arrange new filter cartridges. If you register your new Monogram appliance at GE’s site upon purchase, the company covers the refrigerator under a limited warranty which extends up to 12 decades.
