The way to Make Daybed Pillows

Bolster cushions are the classic way to groom a daybed. These lengthy, round cushions can be put around the edges of the daybed to make it look like a couch and increase comfort for relaxing. With a foam bolster kind and a few fabric, you can make an custom strengthen cushion with minimal or no sewing.

Assess the length of the foam bolster form, beginning from the center of one round finish, going across the duration of the form, and ending at the center of another round end. Insert 4 inches. This is the duration of your fabric piece.

Assess the circumference of the bolster kind and add 3 inches. This is actually the width of the cloth piece.

Cut a cloth rectangle with all the width and length dimensions you ascertained. Using pinking shears to cut the cloth helps prevent it from unraveling while you are creating the bolster cover.

Fold and press one of the long edges of the cloth piece to the interior to make a 1 1/2-inch hem. Secure the hem with fusible hem tape and also an iron, following product directions.

Place the fabric on a flat surface with the ideal side facing up. Fold the long edges into the center, with the hemmed edge under the non-hemmed edge and tilting by 1 1/2 inches. The ideal side of the cloth should be about the interior of the folded fabric.

Measure and mark 2 inches from each of the narrow ends of the folded cloth, using chalk or a light pencil mark. Finger-pleat and gather among the narrow ends with the mark as a guideline. With a nylon cable tie, secure the drawing at the mark. Pull the cable tie as tight as possible to securely hold the gathers. Trim the extra length of wire tie. Repeat this for the remaining narrow end. The fabric piece will probably look somewhat like an envelope or candy wrapper with gathered ends.

Turn the cloth so the ideal side faces out and the finish accumulates are on the interior of the cloth envelope. Spread the gathered ends and smooth them against the interior of the cloth envelope. Insert the bolster form, arranging the cloth so that the gathers are even and the open edges overlap smoothly.

Stitch the open cloth edges closed with an overcast stitch on the folded hem edge, using a sewing needle and thread which blends with the fabric shade. The edges should overlap by 1 1/2 inch or as needed to generate the fabric fit snugly over the bolster form. You can use a hot glue gun or fluid fabric glue to hold the edges rather than sewing.

Insert other decorations, if needed, to the bolster ends to get a finishing touch. Use 1 button 1 1/2 inch in diameter or as needed to pay for the center of the gathers at each end. Apply dots of hot glue around the button, then keeping the adhesive at least 1/4 inch away from the button edge. Put the glue-side button contrary to the drawing, facilities matching, and hold it in place for 30 seconds. Repeat this with the remaining button. Allow the hot glue to set for a hour or so before using the bolster.
