Coastal Style

Seaside Italian Escape

With smooth whitewashed walls, a brilliant turquoise pool, along with a dazzling view of the Tyrrhenian Sea, this Italian villa is a beautiful blend of classic architecture and contemporary materials. This house, which is situated close to Mount Vesuvius in Naples, Italy, was initially constructed in the early 1970s. For Italian designer Fabrizia Frezza, the challenge was updating the look of the house while paying tribute to the region’s local fashion.

“The house had a very dark and disagreeable atmosphere,” states Frezza. “The inside of the villa didn’t reflect the exterior, which was done in a typical Mediterranean style.” Frezza focused on linking the appearance of the inside and the exterior. The terrace and pool area is just outside the home’s main living spaces, therefore Frezza lined the room with exactly the same white terracotta tile that she used on the inside.

While the inside was outdated, the structural base and the exterior were of exceptional quality, which made the remodel quite simple.

Planning the patio and swimming pool area was one of Frezza’s favorite parts of the undertaking. She wanted this outside living area to have a more contemporary look while also giving it timeless fashion.

Frezza placed the pool so the very top of Mount Vesuvius will be observable from the pool measures. For Frezza, maintaining the design in accord with the area’s design was quite important. While she wanted the house to fulfill the expectations of her clients, she also wanted to keep the home’s original coastal and Mediterranean characteristics.

The white terracotta tile in the living room ties the interior to the exterior and is a sensible, easy-to-clean selection with this summer house.

To emphasize the look and culture of the surrounding town, Frezza chose materials, accessories and furniture from local artisans and material sources, in addition to many custom pieces of its design. “I like to use local materials to create a project that keeps the place alive,” Frezza states. “I wish to link the past and the present.”

The main living room is a long area that Frezza divided into seating areas. This corner was outfitted with plush white sofas and a coffee table located in India.

The living room is Frezza’s favorite room in the home. “The Mediterranean tones, the pastel linens, along with the deep purple sofas would be the perfect backdrop for the family’s antique furniture along with my pieces,” she states.

This plush purple ottoman overlooks the design on this side of the room. This announcement bit can double as seating and is easy to move around to change up the furniture arrangement.

The master bedroom was outfitted in soothing shades of sage and moss green. Polished, white-brushed bamboo flooring lend a natural feel to the room.

The smooth canopy is one of Frezza’s own layouts. It’s a surprisingly contemporary take on a more traditional bedroom accent.

From the guest bedroom, then she whitened the classic armoire and gave them a golden patina for a soft look that’s reminiscent of the master bedroom. The bed frames were custom designed by Frezza.
